About Teresa Munby
Teresa Munby has been potting since 2004, now dividing her time between a land-locked Oxford Studio created in 2013 and a studio on the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides on the west coast of Scotland created in 2020.
She mainly hand-builds vases, pots, sculptured pieces and tiles using porcelain paper clay and porcelain.
The waterproof vases, designed to be used for flowers are either plain cylindrical shapes or conical. Some are simple white forms with imprinted patterns and textures. Others are ‘marbled’ using coloured slips, creating a stone-like effect each with unique patterns, while others are highly coloured with inlaid shapes and bold masked patterns.
Her tiles, handmade using porcelain paper clay represent experiments in geometric shapes and abstract decoration employing sgraffito technique, slip inlay and hand painted designs using underglazes.
